Dry White Wine For Cooking Seafood
Can anyone recommend to me a "crispy" dry white wine?
I don't drink alcohol, but I like to cook with it. Because of this, I'm pretty bad at finding good wines for certain recipes. I'm making a sea food dish that requires a "crispy dry white wine."
It's a sea food dish. Can anyone recommend me a decent wine?

Try a Sauvignon blanc! A Pinot Grigio will also work. To me a crisp white wine in a recipe basically means no sweet wines (riesling, moscato) and no oak aged chardonnays.

Riesling is great with seafood, you just have to use a dry one.

Great to know. Thank you so much!

I use dry white vermouth, Noilly Prat for example, whenever I need wine for a dish. Lasts way longer because its fortified too.

That's great advice and very specific. Thank you!

Whatever you do, do NOT pick Muscato! I made that mistake 10 years ago and still remember how horrible everything turned out.

I'll keep that in mind. Thank you! hahaha

If you can find a Sauvignon Blanc for around $8-12, that's perfect for a crisp white to cook with (and drink!)

Ok I see that nobody here tried explaining what "crispy" even means. What does it mean?

Fruity and tart. Not sweet like Riesling, not oaky like Chardonnay.

dry, acidic, no lingering finish

New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc

Thank you for the suggestion! Any particular reason for New Zealand?

A lot of them will list the residual sugar on the back of the bottle

That sounds like the perfect price range too! Thank you! (:
